For example, critical Proof of Delivery documents can be delivered to the desks of all participants in a freight services transaction, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week - no more phoning and faxing between shippers and carriers to exchange information and resolve issues.

Documents are captured using powerful scanning software developed by Prodata Solutions. The viper:online ScanMaster software uses OCR technology to capture reference data and automatically associate each document with the relevant freight order (consignment). This greatly reduces the incidence of lost documents and provides a rigorous auditing process between orders for freight services and work performed.

The technology opens up a number of other business process improvement opportunities including ...

• the ability to use a single document for Proof of Delivery - for example by using the shipper's delivery note for POD, the carrier consignment note can be eliminated;

 

• the ability to greatly reduce - if not totally eliminate - physical filing of freight services documents.

User-specific reference data can be used to retrieve document images available through viper:online - for example, a shipper can search by their Delivery Note number, a carrier by Consignment Number and a receiver by Purchase Order number.
